Sports publishing found a fresh and energizing area with the digitalization of news channels. Sporx.com fully perceived this trend earlier than most, and began to embrace the new paradigm by investing in their own digital growth. Sporx.com have been the leading sports news channel for a long time and want to strengthen their position with a new design of their website. They had charted several world-class digital agencies, RGB34 was the clear favorite, and we eagerly boarded on the expedition with the most recognized and familiar news sources in sports.
When Sporx.com decided to redesign their website the challenge was two-fold:
• To maintain their position as Turkey’s leading sports news website, the new version must not only be a modern interface, but it must also set a new level in user experience for sports websites.
• Redesign of desktop version of the site with parallel to design of mobile version from scratch.
We took the deep dive into what it really matters for modern sports enthusiasts to understand their true wishes and desires from an online sports channel. The obvious fact was everyone wants the newest information about what is going on in the arena, and Sporx.com has a proven record for being successful at providing that. Our job was to find out the best way to map the interaction of users with the newest content. Engaging experience with rich content is always priory focus in design but we wanted to look further insights to project our information architecture and design.
During the user experience and design process, various decisions were explored that illustrated an online presence. The outcome was a new digital design language, focused on adequate typography and clean design, where content and photography became the site's centerpiece.
When it came to establishing the framework for the mobile site, there was a heavy emphasis on the mobile user and enabling them to browse with ease on the rich content. To avoid losing primary features when downscaling from desktop to mobile, we adapted our designs through a mobile strategy that restructured both our content and functionality.
